The energy revolution in Germany is making progress: In the first half of 2024, the share of renewable energies in the electricity mix rose to 57 percent. This new influx of renewable energy is pushing the power grid to its limits. Battery storage and an optimized redispatch process could play a key role in improving the integration of renewables and reducing grid bottlenecks. However, there are still a few hurdles to overcome, says Benedikt Deuchert.

Ein Blick in die für den Ausbau von Großbatteriespeichern zentralen Strategien zeigt jedoch, dass die einzelnen Vorhaben nicht aufeinander abgestimmt sind oder sich in Teilen sogar widersprechen.

The Federal Government is working on several strategies for the energy transition. Three are particularly relevant with regard to the use of large battery storage systems: the system development strategy, the electricity storage strategy and the power plant strategy.
