Turnkey construction of battery storage systems from a single source

Once a battery storage project reaches the construction-ready stage, the actual implementation phase begins: the plan is transformed step-by-step into a functional system. Engineering, procurement, and construction supervision result in a turnkey storage facility with precisely planned power and storage capacity, before commissioning marks the start of commercial operation following a series of technical tests.

We act as the general contractor, coordinating all interfaces between grid operators, municipalities, construction companies, technology partners, authorities, and marketers. This allows us to deliver operational large-scale storage systems from a single source.

Kyon Energy as general contractor: Interface management from a single source

Building a large-scale storage facility with significant capacity brings together many stakeholders who are collectively paving the way for renewable energy. As a general contractor, we handle the coordination between all relevant parties, thereby reducing complexity and risk for both municipalities and investors. Kyon Energy realizes battery storage projects for investors as well as for its own portfolio. As an Independent Flexibility Provider (IFP), we develop, build, and operate our own storage projects across the entire value chain.

Engineering, procurement, and construction: The path to a turnkey battery storage system

We manage the implementation of battery storage projects from the initial technical concept to successful commissioning and grid integration. Throughout this process, we consistently monitor costs, schedules, quality, and safety, as well as the facility's planned performance and capacity, creating the foundation for successful and timely project delivery.

Questions & answers about building battery storage systems

What is involved in the implementation of a large-scale storage system?

Project implementation includes engineering and detailed planning, the procurement of battery systems and components, construction supervision and ongoing quality management, as well as grid connection realization and numerous tests before commissioning follows. Furthermore, the implementation of HSE standards spans all project phases.

What is the difference between construction readiness, permitting, and the start of construction?

Construction readiness confirms that all prerequisites for construction are met. The permit authorizes the construction of the facility. Finally, the start of construction marks the actual beginning of work on-site. These three milestones occur sequentially.

How does the commissioning of a battery storage system work?

Commissioning includes technical functional tests, safety and performance tests, grid connection acceptance, and the optimization of operating parameters before commercial operation begins and the storage system feeds energy into the grid.

What does HSE mean for a battery storage project?

HSE stands for Health, Safety, and Environment and encompasses occupational safety, health protection, and environmental protection throughout the entire project lifecycle. At Kyon Energy, HSE is an integral part of every project phase: from planning and site setup to construction, commissioning, and the subsequent operation of the facility.
HSE goes beyond mere compliance with legal requirements: the goal is to prevent workplace accidents, minimize health risks, and keep environmental impact as low as possible. This includes, among other things, safety briefings, risk assessments, monitoring of work processes on the construction site, environmental and nature conservation measures, and regular audits of safety standards for all participating companies.

Who monitors compliance with HSE standards on-site?

Compliance with HSE requirements is ensured by Kyon Energy's own HSE team as well as the responsible project and construction managers. Regular site visits, safety inspections, and audits are conducted to identify potential risks at an early stage and initiate appropriate measures.

All partners and subcontractors working on the construction site are required to adhere to the applicable safety, health, and environmental standards. Compliance is continuously documented and verified. If deviations are identified, defined reporting and escalation processes are triggered to quickly eliminate risks and ensure the safety of everyone involved at all times.

Since Kyon Energy holds many battery storage systems in its own portfolio and operates them long-term, high safety and quality standards are given special priority even during the construction phase.

How are environmental and safety aspects taken into account?

Environmental and safety aspects are an integral part of our project development and are incorporated into every phase of a project—from development and construction to operation. Nature conservation, technical, and infrastructure requirements are assessed and integrated into the planning at an early stage. Furthermore, Kyon Energy works continuously with authorities, specialist planners, and industry partners to further develop standards and processes for battery storage.
